Long-term partner Edwards will be providing the transport for our Under 9s and 11s travel to the Netherlands, whilst Involve Recruitment are the proud new sponsors of our Under 9s shirts.
Touring takes places from May 21st - 31st , kicking off for our Under 10s and 11s in Southampton with a four team tournament (that includes Manchester City, Inter Milan and Southampton), before leading our Under 10s to take on Villarreal and Levante in Spain and our Under 9s and 11s to face Feyenoord and Ajax in the Netherlands.
Speaking of the weeks ahead, Cardiff City FC Academy Lead Foundation Coach, Lawrence Hallett, said: “Our Academy programme has undergone a number of significant changes over the past two years; these changes have embraced all aspects of player development, with a key area of emphasis being the games programme.
“Historically, our Academy age groups are issued with an annual games schedule that provides 20-25 fixtures a season. The Spanish and Dutch teams, for example, are currently playing 60-80 games a season in their Academy age groups, hence a substantial disparity.
“As a consequence, we have escalated the volume of games significantly, to a point where we now play as many games as any Academy in the UK and mainland Europe.
“Of course, to develop the fully-rounded Academy graduate, we must also consider the types of games we play. It is apparent that many of our Academy counterparts in the UK and Europe have much broader experiences, particularly in terms of overseas fixtures. As a consequence, we are about to embark upon a series of games with overseas teams.
“For players and staff, this an exciting enhancement to our existing programme.”
