Greg: Let's make it a season to remember

Interviews

Greg Cunningham spoke following the Bluebirds’ narrow pre-season defeat to Rotherham United on Wednesday evening.

Ahead of Saturday’s trip to Burton Albion, the Bluebirds’ summer recruit told us how well he has settled into the squad during their tour of Devon & Cornwall and this week’s training camp at Champneys, Leicestershire.

“It’s an easy bunch to get along with,” said Greg. “They’ve been great in helping me to settle in.

“It was great to have the week away in Cornwall and then the week up here to be around each other 24/7 and really get to know the lads. I’m really enjoying my time here.”

Greg went on to explain how much he is relishing the chance to play Premier League football this season, and how he hopes to slot into Neil Warnock’s side.

“I’m delighted to get the move up to the Premier League,” he continued. “It’s the pinnacle of football in this country and exactly where you want to play - up against the best players in the world.

“The Gaffer had been interested for a little while and I jumped at the chance. Now, I just need to back myself and show what I can do.

“My preferred position is left of a four, but if needed I’ll go into that left sided centre-half position. I’ll play wherever the Gaffer wants me to and do what I can for the team.”

Finally, Greg previewed the 2018/19 Premier League campaign and how he sees it shaping up for the Bluebirds.

“The three teams that went up last season stayed up, which shows what happens when you work hard and have momentum from getting promoted from the Championship,” he pointed out.

“The boys did great last year, and we’re hoping that with the additions we’ve had to improve the squad, we can make it a season to remember.”
