Warnock: It promises to be a great game

Interviews

Neil Warnock held a pre-match press conference at the Vale Resort on Wednesday morning, ahead of City's Premier League meeting with Wolves on Friday night at CCS (8pm kick-off).

The Gaffer will reach a major milestone this Saturday as he celebrates his 70th birthday, and explained that he’s looking forward to the weekend to come, starting with Friday's match.

“At this level every game is so difficult and we’ve had some good games with Wolves over the last couple of years,” he began. “I’m looking forward to it - not so much to my birthday but for what promises to be a great game.

“They’ve done fantastically and they’ve got different ambitions than us, at the moment. [Nuno Espírito Santo] has done a great job - he knows it will be a tough game, but we’re aware of how good they’ve been. It will be good to pit our wits against them on Friday.”

The visit of Wolves is the first of three matches in the space of just over a week for the Bluebirds, who travel to West Ham on Tuesday, before hosting Southampton back in the Welsh capital.

The Gaffer went on to highlight the importance of getting more points on the board over the course of those three matches.

“Apart from those top five or six clubs, anyone can beat anyone, and they’re included in that,” he continued. “It’s just a matter of getting your own house in order and getting as many points as possible up to Christmas, before we have the chance to strengthen in January.

“We’ve got a busy week with three games in eight days and we’ll want to pick up points in those, when you consider the opposition. I’m sure they’ll think the same about us. We know we’ll have the support right behind us though, because the fans have been fantastic.”
