Warnock:The atmosphere will be fabulous

Neil Warnock held a pre-match press conference on Friday morning, ahead of Sunday’s highly anticipated fixture against Liverpool at Cardiff City Stadium.

Following City’s crucial 2-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday evening, the Gaffer commenced by expressing the importance of the victory.

“The dressing room was elated,” began Neil. “Not just the fact that we’d won, but the way that we won: I think we played very well on the night and we were always aware that if we hadn’t won that would be it.

“To come out and put on a performance like that with the pressure that was on us was credit to the lads and they all did their jobs. It was a great and very positive response from the Burnley game.”

Liverpool are currently chasing the Premier League title and last dropped points in a 0-0 draw away to Everton on March 3rd, 2019, but Neil went onto reveal his excitement ahead of the sold-out fixture.

“It’s going to be an amazing game,” he continued. “Everybody’s talking about it, so the atmosphere will be fabulous and we’ll try to enjoy it as much as we can, because you’ve got to do that when the pressure’s on.

“We’ll just have to play the best we can and put in a good performance against one of the best sides in the world at the moment. I don’t like my teams losing concentration and the fans are really looking forward to it, so we’ve got to give a good account of ourselves for them.

“I don’t want it to be an occasion where we say it’s a lovely day and get battered: I want us to put up a fight and that’s what we’ve been working on. We’ve got to keep those good standards up for the rest of the season.”

The Gaffer's press conference will follow on Cardiff City TV.
