Defender Curtis Nelson arrived in South Wales in June 2019, following a three-year spell at Oxford United.
Curtis made his breakthrough at Plymouth Argyle, spending seven years at Home Park; he made his first-team debut in 2010 and was capped at England Under-18 level in 2011. He was named as the Pilgrims’ Club Captain in 2013, succeeding former City skipper Darren Purse.
In total, Nelson made 213 League appearances for Plymouth, before moving to Oxford United in 2016. In three seasons at the Kassam Stadium, the centre-back played in just shy of 100 League matches, two-thirds of which were as club captain. Curtis scored seven goals for The U’s, including four in the 2018/19 season. In the summer of 2020, he signed a contract extension with City until the summer of 2023.
