Cardiff City’s U18s grabbed their first win of the season with a 3-0 win over Brentford.

They took an early lead when Tyler Roche intercepted a Brentford pass and broke with real determination, the midfielder played through City striker Gethyn Hill who rounded the Bees goalkeeper but his shot was blocked by their covering defence. The away defence though couldn’t stop Robbie Patten from running onto the ball and firing it into the empty net from the edge of the penalty area.

The home side’s lead was doubled through a fine individual effort. The impressive Roche broke down the left side of midfield before cutting infield and onto his right foot and firing the ball beyond Bees goalkeeper Joe Taylor.

A third goal followed for City in the second half when Bees ‘keeper Taylor’s clearance was brilliantly intercepted by striker Hill who composed himself and dinked the ball over the onrushing keeper to give the home side an unassailable lead.
