Malky Mackay spoke to press after Cardiff City’s 2-1 victory over local rivals Bristol City and was very pleased with his side's display.
“I think we ended up with twenty-three chances on their goal, so on another day we probably could have scored more," said the Gaffer.
“In the first half Tom (Heaton) made some great saves and we missed a couple. I was delighted to get the lead just before half time though. It gave us momentum and the belief about the way we were playing first half definitely spilled into the second half. I thought we controlled the game really well today.
.“We were more than business like today, it was high quality on showOur group are trying to go forward and do the best we can for the football club - and what fantastic support we had today.”
Malky was complimentary about Fraizer Campbell on his home debut, adding:“I thought it was time to start him and it is about bleeding him in gently. He has not played a lot of football over the last nine months and with that being the case we have to make sure that we treat him properly in terms of getting him up to match fitness. I don’t doubt the quality of the footballer we have got.”
“I am delighted for him and you could see the quality from him today, the intelligence, the strength, the link up and the pace. Obviously strikers want to score goals, so for him to score the two goals was pleasing for him. More than anything I am delighted about the lack of ego of the boy.”
Malky also had some kind words for ex-City keeper Tom Heaton on his return to Cardiff City Stadium, saying:“Tom is a great lad, I have just had five minutes with him now. The first half he made a couple of great saves and I thought he was going to be back here breaking our hearts. He is a good lad, a good boy and great professional footballer. He is going to have a good career in front of him.
