City midfielder makes second appearance in Belgium defeat

Kim Bo Kyung and South Korea exited the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil on Thursday as a final game defeat to Belgium saw them finish bottom of group H.

Facing the tough task of beating the group leaders comprehensively to have a chance to progress, Jan Vertonghen’s 77th minute strike was enough to make it three wins out of three for the Belgians and ultimately consign Hong Myung-bo’s side to an early exit from Brazil.

City midfielder Kim Bo Kyung did make his second appearance of the tournament however, replacing Shin-Wook Kim as a 66th minute substitute to play the final 25 minutes in Sao Paolo.

In the end it was Algeria who progressed as runners-up from group H following a 1-1 draw with Russia.

Cardiff City World Cup focus now turns to Gary Medel and Chile who take on hosts Brazil in Belo Horizonte on Saturday, kick-off 5pm.
