Warnock: "The fans were unbelievable!"

Club News

Neil Warnock spoke to the assembled press and media following City's Emirates FA Cup defeat to Premier League leaders Manchester City.

“We knew the class would be different, and they didn’t disappoint,” the Gaffer began. "Two moments of magic for the goals, but when you look at the first it’s not a free-kick.

“The second goal is a great ball in and we just slept a little bit. We just lacked that quality in finishing - they showed their class really. We could have quite easily gone under, but credit to the lads they stuck in there."

The City boss went on to discuss the occasion as a whole and how his team dealt with the threat of Pep Guardiola’s side.

“I wanted us to put on a bit of a performance, as best we could. I saw flashes of certain things today that I was pleased with.

“The fans were unbelievable, it just shows you what we’ve got to aim for. I think it’s whetted everybodies appetite and seeing them queue for tickets last week was special. To sell out on the Tuesday before we played was incredible, so we’ve got to get in positions where we can have more days like this.

“When you’re playing against a team like them you can get run ragged, and not have a lot of possession. I don’t think they hurt us that much though, especially in the second half I thought we did really well to stem the tide.”
