U21 Match Preview | Cardiff City vs. Swansea City

Academy
Cardiff City's U21 side continue their PDL campaign by hosting South Wales rivals Swansea City on Tuesday, December 5th.

With kick-off at 2pm at Cardiff International Sports Stadium, supporters are welcome to attend and watch the match free of charge! Cardiff City TV will also be livestreaming the match via their official YouTube channel.

City will come into Tuesday's match unbeaten from their last two outings, haven defeated Bristol City and drawing 5-5 against Charlton Athletic in November.

Last time out, in a ten-goal thriller the young Bluebirds fought to earn a point away from home against the in-form Addicks, with Joel Colwill (with a brace), Cameron Antwi and Ryan Kavanagh all on the scoresheet along with an own goal by the hosts.

With the Swans in third place on the PDL South table and also in good form coming into Tuesday's fixture, U21s Manager Darren Purse reflected on the past week before sharing his thoughts on the upcoming match:

"It's the first time in my whole career that I've been involved in a 5-5 draw!" began Darren. "There were some real positives to take from it, with some of the goals we scored being brilliant, but on the other hand at this moment in time it seems like teams don't have to work too hard to score against us."

The Bluebirds walk out at Leckwith...

"That's been our focus this week," he continued. "Being compact, hard to beat and getting up to people to stop shots. They are the basics of defending, and trying to make sure that the boys understand that the levels need to be up there on Tuesday.

"We've got good, young local lads that understand the rivalry, and what we've learned from the last few meetings it's about who keeps their heads that gets the result. In the Cup earlier this season we had a man sent off, while they did last season when they came to us and it ultimately cost them the game.

"They're in really good form at the moment, and hopefully we can put a stop to that on Tuesday."
