FUTSAL: BIRMINGHAM 1 - 4 CITY

Club News

Cardiff City's Futsal side claimed their first League win of the season after sweeping aside Birmingham Futsal Club on Sunday afternoon.

The Bluebirds opened the scoring on 8 minutes when Joe Dyer crossed for Dean Maynard to turn in from close range. However, the away side led for all of two minutes, as Birmingham equalised with 10 minutes played.

City though were working hard defensively and when Joe Dyer forced a Birmingham defender into a mistake, Jonny Nelson nipped in, and finished from a tight angle to restore the Bluebirds lead.

Tyler Mills capped off an excellent first half display for the Bluebirds when he, after receiving the ball from a corner, danced around his marker and fired low into Birmingham net for a 3-1 lead.

After the interval, both sides tested the wood-work with thumping strikes but it was City's Kevin Green who got the only goal of the second half. Green, after a clever Joe Dyer back-heel, found himself in acres of space and shot low into the bottom corner for City's fourth.

That goal ensured all three points and the first win in the FA National Futsal League for Cardiff City.
