Malky Mackayspoke to the media on Friday ahead of his side’s weekend clash with Millwall at Cardiff City Stadium.

And the City manager was full of praise for the home fans that turned out for the Boxing Day match against Palace.

“Being a top of the table clash, we were delighted to win the match,” said the Gaffer.

“Boxing day always bring a special atmosphere and our fan turnout was unbelievable – I couldn’t believe it when I looked up at the scoreboard and saw exactly how many people were there. I’m sure that everyone there went home and had a nice night.”

“When the fans see the team on the pitch as a mirror image of themselves, it makes them want to come back. And when the players see the fans coming out in huge numbers and having that fervour of support it always helps at a football club as well.”

As for Saturday's opponents Millwall, the manager highlighted the threat that Kenny Jackett’s Lions may pose.

“Millwall will be a huge challenge for us. Some people would say they’re surprised that Millwall are up there, but I’m not sure about that.

“Kenny Jackett has built a good squad there over a long period, so it’s going to be a very tough game for us at the weekend – but we knew this period was going to be like that.”
