Joe senior - a Scottish international - scored a remarkable eighty-six goals in ninety-four appearances for the Bhoys, wearing the famed Celtic number nine shirt between 1965 and 1968.

"Joe Senior came to Cardiff on many occasions last season, visiting Cardiff City Stadium to watch us play many times. He'll be remembered as a legend of the Scottish game and will be sadly missed."

Funeral details will be released by Joe's family in due course.

Joe McBride Senior is joined by son and grandson for a 2009 charity event.
