Boro – just one point ahead of City having played the same number of games – have enjoyed a fine run under October Manager of the Month Tony Mowbray.

“We are in great form at home and we know that Middlesbrough are a very good team,” said Kers.

“I would imagine, from the neutrals perspective, that it will be a very entertaining game; but we will go out there, hopefully tactically right and get the result we want. I’d expect a big crowd as always - our fans at home are always a great help to us at Cardiff City Stadium.

“We’ve obviously done our homework on Middlesbrough. They’ve got plenty of good players, potential match winners, so were going to have to be careful. But the onus is on us, we’re at home and we aim to get the ninth win.”

As to the particular strengths of the opposition, Kers added: “Tony (Mowbray) knows the league inside out and it was only a matter of time before his side challenged seriously. I think they will be there or thereabouts this year.

“We’re fully aware that it’s a very big game for us, but it’ll be no different in the way we prepare whether it’s someone bottom of the league or top. We get ourselves right, the manager was working on the shape Friday morning and we’ll be ready to go.”
