CITY LEAVE IT TOO LATE AT FOREST

Club News

Cardiff City conceded three goals at the City Ground on Saturday, losing to Nottingham Forest and relinquishing top spot on goal difference following Leicester City’s late equaliser against Birmingham.

Andy Reid opened the scoring midway through the first half with a well taken free-kick, followed less than two minutes later with a strike from on-loan defender Daniel Ayala to give the hosts a 2-0 half-time lead.

Cardiff would have wanted to open the second half at pace, but instead were three down almost straight away as Billy Sharp scored his first goal for the club since arriving on loan from Southampton seven weeks ago.

Heidar Helguson pulled a goal back midway through the second half, while Forest played the last minutes of the match with ten men due to Adlene Guedioura's red card for two bookable offences. Despite an encouraged and pressing end to the game, the gap proved to wide and Forest held on for three home points.

City now look to use home advantage this week as Watford and Burnley arrive at Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday night and Saturday.
