Home win against Man City earns Bluebirds the accolade

The League Managers Association five-man Performance of the Week panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, were in agreement that this week, the LMA Performance of the Week Award should go to Cardiff City following the excellent 3-2 home win against Manchester City in the Barclays Premier League on 25 August 2013.

Malky Mackay will receive a specially engraved crystal football in a presentation to commemorate the award.

City won the fourth LMA Performance of the Week Award of the season following Sunday's headline victory. After falling behind to Edin Dzeko's opener, Aron Gunnarsson equalised after an impressive Cardiff move consisting of 17 passes. A Fraizer Campbell double in the space of eight minutes then put the Bluebirds in firm control.

After the match, Malky spoke jubilantly on his side's display, saying: "Manchester City had a lot of possession, but we were deserved winners.

"The belief we had, against one of the very best teams in world football, is something we can take into the Everton game and beyond.

"We deserve to be here in the Barclays Premier League and I'm delighted for everyone involved with Cardiff City Football Club."
