DANE EARNS CITY SEVERNSIDE POINT

Cardiff City’s U18 side drew 1-1 with severnside rivals Bristol City on March 2nd.

In an open first half, both sides had opportunities of scoring the game’s first goal. Miles John was a continual thorn in the side of City’s defence, while the impressive Macauley Southam came close to grabbing the game's opening goal.

The second half continued as the first had finished, and Hereford-born Brad Williams went close to giving the away side an important lead with a right footed free kick from the left that was just cleared by the Robins defence.

Unfortunately for the Academy, they found themselves behind when a cross from John was fired into the back of the net by Matthias in the seventieth minute. While the home side began dominating the ball more in the final fifteen minutes, the steel determination of Cardiff City’s Academy shone through as they earned a share of the point when the in-form Dane Griffiths smashed the ball home with his left foot.
