City youngsters get call for U-19 qualifiers

Five of City’s promising Academy members have been named in Wales’ under-19 squad to compete in the UEFA U-19 qualifying tournament in Georgia this week.

City’s Declan John, Bradley Wickham, Josh Yorwerth, Tommy O’Sullivan and Abdi Noor have all been called-up which will see them travel to Georgia next week to compete in the first round qualifying tournament for next summer’s finals.

Wales have been drawn in qualification Group 11 of 13 for the 2014 UEFA European Under-19 Championships which will be held in Hungary next summer. Each group is contested as a mini-tournament and is hosted by one of the nations involved, in Wales’ case in Georgia.

Thirteen group winners and thirteen runners-up along with the best third placed nation qualify to the elite round and a second round of qualification.

Wales’ first match is against hosts Georgia at the Mikheil Stadium in Tbilisi on Wednesday, 13th November before taking on group favourites the Netherlands at the Dinamo Arena in the Georgian capital on Friday, 15th November. Wales face a possible decider against Moldova at the same venue the following Monday, 18th November.
