DVP boss praises young Bluebirds following 1-0 win over Swansea

City Development manager Kevin Cooper praised his team and particularly the performance of match winner Kadeem Harris following the Bluebirds 1-0 win over Swansea City at Cardiff City Stadium.

Harris snatched the winner just after the hour mark as he clinically converted a Luke Coulson cross from the right, confidently lashing the ball home from close range to score his eighth goal of the season in all matches so far.

Speaking after the match, City Development boss Kevin Cooper said: “He’s come back with a fantastic attitude and a willingness to learn, get better and prove that he’s there.

“We all know what Kadeem is capable of with the ball, he’s got pace and tricks, it was just a case of getting him a bit more clever with his positioning and decision making.

“He’s a work in progress but we’re starting to get the rewards and getting him into games and helping him to understand how he can affect a game in a positive way.

“I’m delighted for him because he’s a real prospect for us and so far he’s delivering.”

Harris himself was delighted to get on the score sheet and collect his first league goal of the campaign, adding to an impressive tally of seven notched up in pre-season with City’s Development side.

“Last season I didn’t score nearly enough goals but now I’ve got a few in pre-season and a first in the league tonight,” said Harris.

“After last season I made sure that I practice more on my finishing because it definitely needed to be touched on and it seems to be working so far.

“I think I’m making good progress, I’ve scored a few goals now and we’re all doing well as a team. “

Chipping in with the assist for the winner for the Bluebirds was City right-back Luke Coulson, who saw a series of mazy run’s down the right rewarded as Harris converted his 64th minute cross.

“It’s a great win. We knew it was going to be a tough game, but I think it was a deserved result in the end.

“It’s always great to set up one of the lads and Kadeem has been playing really well lately and it was good to see him continue his great run of form.”

Next up for City’s DVP side is an away trip to face QPR on Monday, 7th October (kick-off 1pm) a trip Coulson is already eagerly anticipating following their Development Derby victory on Monday night.

“We’ve just got to keep doing what we’re doing,” said the former Manchester City man, “We’re not going to change the way we play but we’ll look at what they do and hopefully we’ll come back with the three points. We’re in a great run of form.”
