City midfielder enjoying Premier League life

January signing Magnus Wolff Eikrem has hailed the belief that the Cardiff City squad showed against Premier League title challengers Manchester City last weekend.

The Bluebirds eventually succumbed to stubborn defeat at the Etihad Stadium, but despite the result there were plenty of positives to take including a second appearance for the Norwegian International from the bench since signing from Dutch club Heerenveen.

Speaking after the match on Saturday, Eikrem said: “After a while we started creating something - we had belief and chances ourselves which are always hard to come by against Manchester City.

“After our equaliser, despite them taking the lead again I felt that we were a bit on top of them and looked like possibly getting the score to 2-2 in the second half. Then they scored of course and it became a different game.

“We'll always have hope and if we play like we did in parts of the game today I'm sure we'll get some points.”

The 23-year old midfielder has impressed when coming on as a substitute in City’s last two encounters against West Ham United and Manchester City, with the Bluebirds’ new number 15 enjoying the test of Barclays Premier League football.

“That's what you want to be doing as a footballer,” said Eikrem. “You want to be playing against players like those at Manchester City because then you know where you're at and what you need to work on.

“I'm really enjoying playing in the Premier League, it's been a dream of mine my whole life and hopefully I can contribute even more in the coming games.”
