CARDIFF CITY CONGRATULATIONS TO FK SARAJEVO

Cardiff City Football Club would like to congratulate affiliate club FK Sarajevo on their recent triumph in the 2013/14 Bosnia and Herzegovina Football Cup, claiming Bosnia’s domestic trophy for a fifth time.


‘Bordo-Bijeli’ claimed the 5-1 aggregate victory over Čelik in the two-leg final, completing the victory with a resounding 3-1 win at their home Olympic Stadium in Sarajevo.


The club, owned by majority shareholder Tan Sri Vincent Tan, topped their third place finish in the Bosnian Premier Liga with a commanding victory in the final. The 2-0 win away from home in the first-leg in Zenica was made all the more commanding by second leg goals from Krste Velkoski, Bojan Puzigaća and Nemanja Bilbija.


The result saw FK Sarajevo claim the Bosnia and Herzegovina Football Cup for the first time since 2005, ending the season on an incredible seventeen game unbeaten run in all competitions. It was form that earned the club a place in the qualifying stages of the UEFA Europa League after claiming a third place finish in the league.
