INTERNATIONAL BLUEBIRDS

Club News

Eleven players set to represent across Europe this evening.

Wednesday night will see eleven of City’s players involved in international duty for their respective nations.

Midfielder Aron Gunnarsson will take a rare venture into the away dressing room at Cardiff City Stadium on Wednesday evening as he prepares to Captain Iceland against Wales at Cardiff City Stadium.

On standby for that game for Wales is City full-back Declan John, who if not called upon by Chris Coleman should feature for Geraint Williams’ Under-21s against England at Derby County’s iPro Stadium, with Cardiff City Development player Tommy O’Sullivan also named in Williams’ squad. They could both face Wilfried Zaha who will look to add to his 13 caps for England’s Under-21s in Derby.

A part of the senior England set-up, City defender Steven Caulker will look to pick up his second international cap at Wembley Stadium as Roy Hodgson continues his preparations for the World Cup in Brazil this summer, with an international friendly with Denmark.

Elsewhere City goalkeeper David Marshall will look to celebrate his 29th birthday with an eleventh international cap for Scotland as they take on Poland in Warsaw. The friendly serves as an opportunity for Gordon Strachan to put his side to the test once more as the Scots prepare for the upcoming EURO 2016 qualifying campaign.

In Scotland’s qualification group, Germany take on Gary Medel’s Chile in Stuttgart while Mats Møller Dæhli and Magnus Wolff Eikrem are in the Norway squad for their friendly with the Czech Republic at the Sparta Stadium in Prague. Fellow Norwegian Jo Inge Berget is involved in the Norway Under-23 squad also facing a Czech side at the adjacent FK Viktoria Zizkov Stadium in Prague.

Midfielder Kim Bo Kyung, fresh from a 50th Cardiff City appearance against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, is also set to be involved for South Korea on Wednesday. It will however be a shorter trip to represent his country this time around, as Korea Republic prepare to face Greece in Athens.
