Club confirm extended deal for long serving full back

Cardiff City are delighted to confirm that the club have agreed a contract extension with long serving full-back Kevin McNaughton.

The 31-year-old’s eight year spell in the Welsh Capital makes him the longest serving player among the current City ranks. Joining in May 2006 from Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen, ‘Super Kev’ as he is affectionately known by many has made 291 appearances for the Bluebirds in his time with the club, scoring two goals.

Delighted to have agreed an extension to his current contract, McNaughton exclusively told Cardiff City Player: “I think I’m part of the furniture now, I’ve been here a while! It’s great really to look forward to another season at the club.

“When I first came we were playing at Ninian Park and everything has changed since then with excellent training facilities and the stadium. Obviously now we’re a Premier League football team, looking to stay there.”

Also pleased to see the Scot commit his experience to the club, City manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær said: “For a manager it’s perfect to have a player like Kevin in the squad. He keeps the standard up and you know he’ll always bring the upmost professionalism and attitude to his game and to the team. He fully deserves his extended deal.”
