Craig Noone named Cardiff City FC Community Champion for 2013/14 season

The PFA has today released its annual Community Player Engagement Evaluation, featuring Cardiff City’s Foundation Day 2014 as an exemplar case study of the great work Cardiff City FC encourages within both its local and extended communities.

The nature of Foundation Day was built on the premise of each member of Cardiff City FC’s Senior Squad and its staff kindly pledging a day’s wage in support of Cardiff City FC Foundation. Foundation Day 2014 was the inaugural event of is kind for Cardiff City, having taken place on April 5th during a home fixture against Crystal Palace FC in the Barclay’s Premier League. The day itself raised over £160,000 – an astonishing total of valuable funds that have since gone a long way in enhancing the quality and quantity of the Foundation’s reach throughout the community.

Cardiff City Football Club appreciates how fortunate it is to have a squad of co-operative and supportive players that allow for meaningful player visits on a season-by-season basis.

For the 2013/14 season, Cardiff City FC Foundation is proud to recognise Craig Noone as Community Champion. During his second season as a Bluebird, Craig willingly accepted the role of Futsal Ambassador and his since been a vital part of expanding the futsal programme within the Foundation. Craig has spent many full afternoons at the Cardiff City House of Sport taking part in classroom lessons, before taking to the courts with the pupils for practical sessions.

Upon receiving the news of the accolade, Craig said: “It’s such a privilege to be recognised as Community Champion amongst a team of players who together, do as much as we can to support the community. For me personally, getting involved regularly with futsal is something I really enjoy doing; it’s important that we can be positive role models off the pitch too.

“Cardiff City Foundation create some incredible opportunities for the people of Cardiff and South Wales. We need to create as much backing and awareness for them as we can, so they can keep getting better and better.”

Cardiff City FC Foundation wishes to extend its gratitude to the PFA for their inspiring acknowledgement of Foundation Day 2014 and their on going support in establishing a healthy working relationship with Cardiff City Foundation. We’d also like to thank the players and staff of Cardiff City FC whose patronage is invaluable in the expansion of our community involvement.
