RUSSELL: TAKE IT TO THE ROAD

Club News

Russell Slade hopes to see his side pick up their first victory on the road this season when Cardiff City visit the Macron Stadium to play Bolton Wanderers.

After winning all three of his home games since taking the position, Russell has now targeted an away win against the Trotters, who currently sit twenty third in the Sky Bet Championship table.

Recently installed boss, former Celtic manager Lennon has won two of his five games as Bolton boss since succeeding Dougie Freedman at the beginning of October. Wanderers were successful in their previous home league game, a 3-1 victory over Brentford, and the Bluebirds manager is expecting a tough test.

“I feel I’ve got off to a great start here, particularly at home,” Russell said. “What we have to do now is address that away form and start picking up a few more points away from home.

“We know it’s going to be tough, against a new manager again [in Lennon]. We’ve faced a new manager last time out [Neil Redfearn at Leeds], there’ll be a new manager on Tuesday and then another new manager on Saturday [Gary Rowett, the former Burton Albion boss who has just taken over at Birmingham City]. It’s a test of the new managers at the moment.

“What I’m finding is that it’s a very fine line in this league between winning, drawing and losing football matches. We saw Birmingham get absolutely mullered 8-0 last week and then they’ve gone and drawn against Wolves [on Saturday], with Wolves in great form. So that just shows you what all teams are capable of on any given day.”
