Thanks to a kind donation from Wales’ favourite pie maker, Cardiff City Football Club's Women's team will be ready to take on all challenges this season.

Peter’s Pies have teamed up with Cardiff City FC's Community and Education Foundation to give five groups, schools and clubs £500 from their ‘Pot of Gold’ fund in order to purchase much-needed kit and equipment. Thanks to this kind gesture, Cardiff City FC’s Women’s team have a range of new equipment including a stretcher and fracture pack and other essential first aid equipment, in time for the new season.

Women's team captain Siobhan Walsh spoke of the importance of this donation, saying, “We are very grateful to Peter’s for their kind donation.

“It is essential that we carry this equipment with us to games so that we are able to treat injured players while travelling around the whole of Wales with the senior team and South Wales with the development team.”

The club, who currently provide provision for 38 girls from across South and West Wales, has two women’s teams - one based in the Welsh Women’s Premier League and another in the South Wales Women’s League. Simon Stephens, Head of Sport at Cardiff City FC’s Community & Education Foundation, added: “The equipment donated to the Women’s team by Peter’s will make a world of difference to both teams.

“Without this equipment, the team would be less able to treat players injured during away games and they can now play with confidence knowing that they have this equipment on hand at all times.”

Regarding the donation, Marketing Manager for Peter’s Claire Conway said: “We are very glad that we have been able to help Cardiff City FC’s Women’s team by giving them a share of this funding for new medical equipment.

“The Cardiff City FC Community and Education Foundation do an incredible amount of work so that people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities can enjoy sport and develop life skills along the way.

“We wanted to help their local groups and clubs by giving them much-needed funds and we’re pleased that this contribution to the Cardiff City FC Women’s team will properly equip them for future away games.
