BRAYFORD: OUR BEST IS YET TO COME

You can read the exclusive interview with John Brayford only in Saturday's CF11

John Brayford has spoken of his belief in the Cardiff City squad as caretaker managers Scott Young and Danny Gabbidon prepare their side to do battle with Sheffield Wednesday in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday afternoon.

City host the Owls at Cardiff City Stadium, looking to put Tuesday’s Capital One Cup defeat firmly behind them.

“It was one of those results that came out of nowhere really, but we know that the performance wasn’t right,” John said. “There were a few changes and some hadn’t played for a while, but we’ve still got to take it like any other game. We’ve looked at it to see what we can take from it to go in Saturday’s game.

“Obviously the league is our main priority and we’ll be hoping for three points.”

The fans played a big part in inspiring the City team at Derby last week, and will be looking to aid the Bluebirds in their tough home match against the Owls. Brayford continuing:  “I think that’s why we’ve got to get it right at home - to get the fans behind us. As everyone knows, if you pick up wins in your home games, then as long as you sneak a few results away then you won’t be far wrong at the end of the season.”

Eleven new faces have come into the Cardiff City fold since the end of last season, and John believes it’s just a matter of time before the talented City squad click as a group, “It’s just one of those things so far this season as we’ve got a load of new players that have come in during the summer.”

“We’ve seen glimpses here and there, but we need to be at our best throughout the 90 minutes, as well as in training every single day.

“I think if everyone works to the maximum every single day then it will come, and it will come soon.

“I think our aim now is to go into the international break unbeaten, and possibly with nine points out of nine. I think we’re more than capable of doing that and if you can take that sort of form into the international break, the confidence will carry over afterwards.

“It’s still early days of course and you don’t get a true reflection until around Christmas time. I think we’ll be alright to be honest. I know the results haven’t been great as of late but I think we’ll soon be pushing on up the league."
