City midfielder signs long-term Bluebirds deal

We’re delighted to announce that Joe Ralls has signed a contract extension that keeps him with the Club until the summer of 2020.

Having signed for the Bluebirds as an apprentice in 2010 from Farnborough Town, Joe made his first-team debut in an August 2011 League Cup tie against Oxford United. Two months later, he made his League debut, scoring at Hull City in a 1-1 draw with a spectacular long-distance effort.

The creative midfielder has made sixty-seven appearances in a City shirt to date, and has featured sixteen times this season having been given the number eight shirt at the start of the 2015/16 campaign.

Speaking to Cardiff City Player HD on Thursday – in an interview you can see in full on this evening’s ’‘In The City - Joe said: “I’m very happy to have put pen to paper on a new contract at Cardiff City.

“I’ve been part of things this season quite prominently and I felt that this was where I wanted to stay. Hopefully we can continue to progress this season and on the back of what we’ve already done, I feel we can be successful.

“I’ve been here for five years already now and I’m looking forward to the future.”

Cardiff City CEO, Ken Choo, added: “It’s no secret that Joe is one of our finest young talents and somebody who we wanted to ensure remained a Cardiff City player for the foreseeable future.

“I’m delighted that we’re able to release the news of Joe’s contract extension today and look forward to witnessing him flourish with us in the coming years.”
