PT: THE RESULT WILL BREED CONFIDENCE

Club News

The Bluebirds recorded their first win of the new Sky Bet Championship season against Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday night.

In an eventful match, City triumphed 2-1 thanks to a brace of own goals from centre back Shane Duffy. The unfortunate defender was then sent off in the game’s dying moments for a second bookable offence.

After the game, Cardiff City Head Coach Paul Trollope gave his thoughts to the assembled press and media.

“We’re pleased to get off the mark,” Paul began. “I think the result will breed confidence within the group because there were some really good signs tonight.

“We were determined to bounce back today and we looked carefully and learnt a lot of lessons from our first three games. I believe in what we’re doing, and so do the players, and we knew the first win would come.

“Now we’ve got to build on this and continue to learn lessons. The spells of the game that we controlled were really pleasing and I think hopefully people can see what we’re trying to do and how we’re trying to play. We were progressive and aggressive with our wing backs particularly, as Dec [John] showed with the first goal.

“There are pleasing signs, there’s always things to improve on and we will take these lessons into Saturday’s game against Fulham.”
