BENNETT: "I'M REALLY ENJOYING IT HERE. I LOVE IT."

Ahead of the Bluebirds taking on Brighton on Saturday, left back Joe Bennett gave his pre-match thoughts to the media, with the former Seagull looking forward to taking on some familiar faces.

“A couple of seasons ago I was at Brighton, on loan for the season,” explained Joe. “I really enjoyed my time there. It’s a good club, the training facilities and the stadium are great. I know a lot of the players, and they’ve had a few new signings who I’ve played against before. Anthony Knockaert will play on the right wing, so if I’m playing I’ll need to contain him.

“Chris Hughton is a good manager, and he’s showing that this season. They’ve got a good side, a good striker in Glenn Murray. He’s been scoring a lot of goals, so we need to contain him on Saturday.”

Bennett has excelled under Neil Warnock so far this season, having made his debut in Neil’s first game in charge, following a calf injury earlier in the campaign.

“I’ve enjoyed playing under him, it’s been really good playing for me every week. We’re set up well, and everyone knows how he wants to play. We’ve been grasping that, and we need to carry on come Saturday. A lot of managers can be a bit too serious at times, but he’s a good character and I like playing for him.

“I think we’ve been playing well at the minute. At Villa, we were unlucky to come in at half time at 2-1, and we thought we could probably nick a point. It’s probably the best we’ve played since I’ve been in the team, and if we can carry that on on Saturday I think we’ll do well.”

The former England Under-21 international commented on our difficult fixture list of late, but was keen to make amends with three points against Albion.

“It has been a tough run, we’ve played a lot of good teams, like Newcastle, Huddersfield and Villa. We have been playing well, but we just need to cut out the silly errors. Two goals at Villa were sloppy goals to conceded, so we definitely need to cut that out at the weekend. Over the last week or so we’ve been working on our defensive shape, so hopefully on Saturday there’ll be a better display and a clean sheet.

“There’s a long way to go yet, there’s a lot of games to be played. It’s quite tight down there as well, with a lot of teams in and around us on similar points. I think over the Christmas period we can pick up some points. We haven’t got easy games, but we’ve got games where we fancy our chances. I think we’ll definitely pick up some points over Christmas.

“I’m really enjoying it here, I love it. I’ve been playing every week which is the main reason I came to Cardiff. I want to get fitter and stronger, and do better for the team, but I think I’ve been playing quite well so far. I’m sure we’ll do well at the weekend, we’ve been playing well at home. If the crowd gets behind us, we’ll definitely get a result.”
