WHITTS: WE’RE CONFIDENT FOR BORO CLASH

Club News

Saturday’s 4-1 victory over Sky Bet Championship promotion rivals Brighton & Hove Albion saw Peter Whittingham set his own personal record…

City’s number seven netted twice to take his Cardiff City goals tally up to eighty-eight, overtaking Bluebirds legends Hughie Ferguson and John Toshack in the process.

With Boro the next side standing in City’s way, Whitts stressed the importance of continuing the momentum on Tuesday night, and heading to the Riverside in search of a win.

“We’ve just played a good team in Brighton and played them off the park,” said Whitts. “So there’s no reason why we can’t go Middlesbrough and be high on confidence.

“It’s a game we’ve got to look forward to. These big matches are the ones you have to be winning and that’s what we’ll go out to do.

“We’ve got a variety in everything really. You’ve got Anthony Pilkington who wants to run in behind, always looking to stretch their defence. Then you’ve got Lex Immers who'll come and get the ball in the pockets, and Tom Lawrence, who wants to drive on with the ball.

“I’m playing out on the left now, roaming, and trying to get in pockets too. When you’ve got players like Joe Ralls and Stuart O’Keefe finding you with the ball it’s always going to be fun.

"I’m trying to score goals and help the team as much as I can. It may not look like it... but I do enjoy scoring!”
