PILKS: I’M RELISHING THE NEW ROLE

Club News

Following his brace against Rotherham United on Saturday afternoon, Anthony Pilkington spoke exclusively to Cardiff City Player HD to offer his thoughts on the Sky Bet Championship draw with the Millers.

“We knew we could always cause them problems," began the City star.  "As we worked on a couple of their videos that we’d watched during the week.

“Obviously, we are disappointed with the goals that we conceded at home. However, we’re going to have to move on now – we’ve got some good games coming up. We’ll take it game by game and hopefully we can go on a little run."

The twenty-seven year old has played the last two matches, against Wolves and Rotherham United, in a number nine role for the Bluebirds.

With those games yielding four points for Russell Slade's men, Pilks revealed that he has enjoyed the opportunity to try his hand further up the pitch, adding:
“It’s a new role and I’m enjoying it. Of course, I enjoy playing football and, as long as I’m on the pitch, I’m happy.

"The Wolves match is the first time I’ve played that high up the pitch, in the number nine role. You’re going to have to compete against these big centre-halves in the Championship, and you’ve got to do your bit for the team.

"It’s an entirely different game, playing in that position, and I’ve definitely enjoyed it."
