GUNNAR ON ITC | PRIDE IN THE SHIRT

Club News

Ahead of tomorrow’s lunchtime clash with Leeds United, City midfielder Aron Gunnarsson appeared on In The City, and was looking forward to getting back out onto the Cardiff City Stadium pitch.

“It was a tough result against Preston,” began Gunnar. “But we need to get back on track. Luckily in this league, we’ve got another game on Saturday to redeem ourselves.

"Games come thick and fast, you can’t dwell upon a bad game for too long, because the next one is coming. This league is ruthless, and we have to get on with it.”

After a historic EURO 2016 campaign with Iceland, Aron has impressed during the opening matches of the season, and spoke of the impact that the Bluebirds fans can have on the players during a match.

“The year we went up, the atmosphere here definitely lifted our performances. When you get the atmosphere like that, it brings you up, and you do even more.”

Gunnarsson continued, “You have to put the shirt on with pride, and we have to be proud to represent the Club. I think every member of this team is ready to do that, and we are willing to work hard, it’s just about getting the results.”

Looking forward to our fixture with the Whites, the Iceman acknowledged the need to put together a strong home run going forward.

“It’s going to be another tough game, but we need to put the home record straight again. We had a good home record last season, and we have to get that going again.

"It’s a vital ground for us. The fans come here to see the players put effort in, and we have to keep on working hard.”
