WARNOCK: "A REALLY PLEASING NIGHT"

Club News

After the Bluebirds’ 2-0 victory over Preston North End on Tuesday, City boss Neil Warnock shared his delight at the result with the press and media at CCS.

“I thought we were comfortable, and quite professional.” Warnock began. “We could have been a little bit greedy and got a few more goals, but I think it shows how far we’ve come, really.

"In every area, I was pleased. I thought the forwards were all a threat. Ken was really busy, and the two wide lads. The midfield did well, despite being outnumbered at times, and the back lads were steady. It was a really pleasing night. We’ve got a couple of injuries, but hopefully they’re not too bad.”

An impressive defensive performance, particularly in the second half, helped the Bluebirds to a third straight league home win, with Warnock keen to praise the men at the back.

“I thought we defended outstandingly. We’ve done well at defending set pieces since I’ve been here, and we’re going to continue that. With seventeen games left I’ve thrown down the challenge - can we go seventeen more games without conceding from a set piece?”

“The back four is as good as anything in the league, the centre halves are both improving. Jazz Richards showed his match-fitness tonight, I thought he did well. So did Pelts, I was disappointed when he came off. But Matt Connolly, I never worry about playing him (Connolly) anywhere. A great lad to have around.”
