WARNOCK: "UPS, DOWNS, EXCITEMENT, THRILLS!"

In a thrilling second half at Ashton Gate, Cardiff City scored three times to see off Bristol City, 3-2, in a memorable Severnside Derby.

Despite falling behind twice, Neil Warnock’s men showed incredible fortitude to comeback and win at the home of their rivals, with Anthony Pilkington scoring a brace and Kadeem Harris netting off the bench.

“I thought we had everything in that last ten or fifteen minutes, we could’ve scored a few more really, but the quality of finishing was good,” Neil stated at the beginning of his post-match press conference. “I thought we just about shaded it in the end.”

Anthony Pilkington, City’s two-goal hero, was a thorn in Bristol City’s side throughout. The Bluebirds boss expressed his delight at Pilkington's fine display.

“I thought he done well today, he was busy today. That’s what he’s capable of doing. I just gave him a rollicking for coming in his own half to try and get the ball off their centre-half – so it was nice to see his shot go in, I must admit. I haven’t sprinted like that for a while.

“It’s always special against Bristol City, if you win. It’s great for our fans going back in their numbers. They’ve enjoyed it.

“You don’t get many games like that, our last game against Aston Villa was like that – up, down, excitement, goals and thrills – and for me, that’s what the Championship is all about.”

Neil concluded: “It’s a great club Cardiff City - the fans have really helped me because they’re right behind me and they can see what I’m trying to achieve.”
