The Bluebirds made a fast start, taking the lead with six minutes on the clock, as a pinpoint corner from Seren Watkins was headed home by Walsh. City almost added a second just minutes later, as a swift move led to wing-back Cook crossing towards Beynon in the area, who fired just wide.

Darbyshire’s side weren’t made to wait long to double the advantage however, as Cook raced through and applied a clinical finish in the 22nd minute. City went close to adding to the lead through the strike partnership of Molly Kehoe and Basham, who both had chances after racing through, but struck off target.

The hosts pulled a goal back before the break, as Taite Trivett beat the offside trap to score, only for the Bluebirds to respond brilliantly. A fine run from Cook led to the ball coming to Beynon in the box, who fired home her first City goal, sending her side into the break with a 3-1 lead.

With an hour on the clock, wing-back Cook was again involved, as her dangerous free-kick almost found the net, forcing goalkeeper Erin Brennan to tip behind. In another attack, defender Hollie Smith struck a great effort from distance, with Brennan again on-hand to save.

Late in proceedings, City almost added a fourth, as substitute Madison Lloyd was denied, after beating the offside trap. With an impressive display, the Bluebirds claimed another three points.
