Ollie Tanner spoke to the press following his brilliant performance and City’s impressive 4-1 against AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday night.
“I think the results say a lot." Ollie began. “We’re scoring lots of goals, not giving away too many, so it’s a really enjoyable period. We just want to keep enjoying it, don’t wish it away and enjoy every minute of it.
“We created so many chances in the first half, and they got a goal in the 45th minute. Coming in at halftime, it's just so calm from the manager and the staff, they just said to keep doing what you're doing, that the goals will come, and they did. We just didn’t panic, and we know as long as we stick to what we're doing, then we'll end up winning the game.
“Teams aren't going to let us run away with it. We've got to go and do it ourselves. That's what we've been doing the last few weeks. I think that's three on the bounce now. So, as I say all the time, we don't worry about other teams and what they do. If we do the business, we’ll not have to worry about anyone else.”
After being out with injury earlier in the season, Tanner has returned to the side with an impact, earning assists, and scored his first goal of the season against the Dons.
Ollie continued. “It was quite a lengthy period. I’ve not had that sort of period out before, so I was itching to get back. I’ve said it before about Brian [Barry-Murphy], he was so good when I was out, so it’s nice to repay him and the staff.
"When you're in form, you want to keep going, and that's where I'm at the minute, I don't want to settle for what I've got, I want more, I want more assists, more goals, to help the team and to extend our lead at the top. I don't want to settle for what we've got.”
Ollie was full of praise for City boss Brian Barry-Murphy, his staff and the impact they’ve had on the Club since joining.
“I’m loving it. Brian and the staff have brought in such a good style of play, and everyone's loving it. Everyone's counting down the days to the games. It's so enjoyable.
"Getting on the pitch and being able to play like that and put on performances, I think everyone's loving it. I know I am.
He concluded. “We're just more positive. It comes with it when you start winning games, it just becomes a habit. So, you roll into every game thinking "We're going to win this game", but obviously not with ease. You have to do the right things and go and win the game yourself. We're not just going to be given games.
“We want to step forward, not step back. That's what we always say, so whether it be a winger, a striker, a midfielder, left back, or right back, everyone wants to go forward, and we want to go forward.
"The more people we get forward, I think, the more goals we're going to score, but at the same time, if we lose the ball, you see the mentality. Everyone runs and wins the ball back.”
