Cian Ashford spoke to the press after Cardiff City’s 2-1 victory over Swindon Town in the first round of the Carabao Cup.
“We wanted to come out tonight and perform well, win and get through to the next round,” Cian began.
“We want to take every game as seriously as we can and show teams exactly what we can do. It doesn’t matter which players are starting, we just want to play our game well and show what we’re about.”

In City’s third game under Brian Barry-Murphy, Ashford is enjoying the new style of play being implemented by the Bluebirds boss.
Cian continued: “Brian and his coaching staff have spoken to us in training about being ready if anything falls our way. The manager wants every player to press, especially from the front, and it makes it a fun time for us attackers.
“If we win the ball high, we can push on, and then we’ve also got other players constantly looking for us, and it’s a fun system to play in.
“Brian makes things very clear. Whether it’s a technical drill or a game, everyone is at it and there’s no sloppiness. Everyone is trying to impress and get themselves on the pitch, and that makes training really intense.”

Ashford played 31 games for the Bluebirds last season. The young attacker concluded by stating his determination to show his ability.
“It’s definitely nice to be back on the scoresheet and scoring at home,” Cian added. “I'm definitely still learning. I played quite a bit last year, but I know I've still got more to show and more to offer for the team.
"I want to take things game by game and just see what I can do. Hopefully I can show everyone this season more of what I’m about.”
