Brian Barry-Murphy spoke to the press following City’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Barnsley at Cardiff City Stadium.
“I’m over the moon with the result and the performance.” Brian began.
“We did a lot of work on Barnsley and we prepared in a very detailed manner, so the players understood how big the challenge was. I'm very pleased.
“I think naturally when the scoreline is what it is at the end, it can feel like an easy night but it was a very difficult first half for us. We scored really early but Barnsley posed a real threat and I think most of the goals came from when they had possession.
"We were very aggressive in how we tried to win the ball back and attack quickly, which is something that we've needed to do better at this season. I'm very pleased with the performance, while understanding for a long period of the game that it wasn't as easy as the scoreline would suggest."
Chris Willock bagged two goals and an assist and Brian was quick to highlight the important role the winger plays.
“I’m very clear on how much of an impact he can have,” Brian continued. “There’s so much improvement in him that we can help him make.
“I’m very keen to get ninety minutes into Chris and push him physically because the way he plays the game is very dependent on feeling very strong and well-conditioned.
"It makes him a very exciting and important player for us moving forward.”
Today’s victory extended the Bluebirds’ unbeaten run to eight games, with Barry-Murphy reflecting on City’s ruthless attack, whilst also providing an injury update.
“I’m very pleased with [Callum] Robinson and Isaak’s [Davies] performance when they came on and they are hungry to play. They are giving me a lot of food for thought in the absence of Yousef [Salech].
“Yousef has had positive news on the initial scan. I think he’s having some further tests but he’s still in discomfort.
“Dylan [Lawlor] has damaged his medial ligament. The scan suggests it’ll be between two to three weeks before he plays again.”
