Brian pre-Rotherham United | Another exciting test

Brian Barry-Murphy
Ahead of Saturday's return to Sky Bet League One action, Brian Barry-Murphy spoke to the press at CCS.

With City unbeaten from three competitive fixtures this season, Brian reflected on how Saturday will bring a fresh challenge to the Welsh capital in the form of the Millers.

“We’re really excited,” he began. “The first home game against Peterborough was a fantastic occasion, so to back that up with a victory on Tuesday was satisfying.

“Now, to go into another test against Rotherham is going to be very exciting.

“I think that day by day we’re improving. The results that we’ve seen have been pleasing, but for myself the focus is purely on training well today and tomorrow to give us the chance to play well on Saturday, in what is going to be a stern examination of how good we want to be."

With the City squad preparing in the final few days ahead of Saturday, Brian anticipates another tough clash from a seasoned travelling side.

“For our squad, a lot of it is about the different challenges that they’ll face, and the way that they’ll overcome these challenges," Brian continued. "Saturday is a great example of that; we’ll face a team with a lot of experienced players, a lot of experience in the camp and perhaps the opposite of where we’re at.

“They’ll be very aware of what our strengths are, and will be looking to give us a test that they think we won’t be able to cope with, but we have to show that we’ve improved in our understanding since Port Vale.

"The challenge is going to be similar, and we have to show that we’ve improved from week one to week two.

“Those steps forward we make will be important for us to continue as we progress through the season."

Providing an injury update, Brian concluded:Perry Ng is getting close but is not there yet, and Alex Robertson is almost on a par in terms of the timescale. Hopefully those two will be back and available against Luton Town."
