Burnley reaction | Alex Robertson

Alex Robertson celebrates his winning goal with the Bluebirds and the City fans.

Alex Robertson spoke to the press after giving the Bluebirds an added time winner in a spectacular afternoon at the CCS.

“Yeah, it was pretty wild,” Alex began. “I thought the first half, obviously, they scored two good goals. But I felt like we played well in the first half and our message coming in at half-time was that we did play well. And we just had to keep our foot on the gas.

“I feel like the stadium has a massive part to play in that. Even at 4-1 down, we still look around and the stadium's full. But, for the fans to get behind us we never lose belief because we know how good we are as a team and how well we can play. And we showed it."

“We've obviously had a tough period of games with teams classed as the bigger teams. and we've done really well,” Alex continued. “I know some of the games, the Middlesbrough game, we were 2-0 up, the West Ham game, we were 3-0 up. and ended up drawing, but I think if you look at the run, the last five or so for the points we took away, we can show that we can compete toe-to-toe with the big sides. It's really positive and fills us full of confidence and we've just got to keep going.”

Robertson has been an integral part of the City team so far this season. He has played as the deeper midfielder in the Bluebirds system and he also found himself in a position to score the winner with a sublime strike.

“I played there a little bit when I was at City when I was younger, under Brian. I don't mind playing anywhere in midfield as long as I'm playing. I'm happy. If I can do that role for the team, then I'm happy to do that and I enjoy being a bit deeper, building attacks, creating stuff from a bit deeper. It's nice.

“That was probably one of the best games I've been involved in. It was really nice to be a part of it. And that to top it off, to score a winner like that, was amazing.

"I had a few shots in the first half like it. I think Chrissy [Willock] just passed me the ball and then I just took a touch and then just bent it. I saw it curving outside the post, so I kind of knew it was in, because when you start outside the post, it usually goes in.”
