Cardiff City FC have received an FAW Academy Licence ahead of the 2025/26 season, as the Bluebirds continue to grow our pathway for young players to develop.
An U13s side will be introduced to our Women and Girls' programme, which will compete in the U13 National Academy League in the 25/26 campaign.
This move is in addition to the formation of our U19s side back in 2020, which has since been crowned national champions on three occasions and has provided a platform to develop into key Senior Team players.
Applications for the role of U13 Lead Coach are now open. You will be responsible for the delivery of a comprehensive and effective player development programme and contribute to a culture that maximises the talent of each of our Academy players. The closing date for this role is Monday, June 23rd at 5pm.

With participation levels and engagement in Women’s football in Wales ever-growing, we aim to continue to make strides by delivering a competitive games programme with an appropriate level of challenge to improve skills.
Interest to join our newly-formed U13s side can be declared by a parent or guardian filling in our questionnaire. Submissions will close on Friday, June 20th at 5pm.

After the submission of questionnaires, a select group of players will be invited to trial training sessions on the following dates:
Monday, June 30th (5.30pm-7pm) at Cardiff International Sports Campus
Thursday, July 3rd (5.30pm-7pm) at Ocean Way Youth Pitch
Saturday, July 5th (12pm-2pm) (Internal Fixture) at Ocean Way Youth Pitch.

After the formation of our new U13s team, Head of Women’s & Girls’ Football Iain Darbyshire said: “We’re excited by the new project that an U13s side will bring. Since 2020, we have been delighted with the impact that the U19s team has made, not only with successful results, but in providing a platform for young players to develop. The aim is exactly the same with the U13s.
“Through the detailed approach of a new Lead Coach, who will be supported by myself and the coaches of the Senior and U19 squads, a competitive games programme will be delivered with the aim of learning and developing.
“During my time at the Club, we have seen huge growth in the Women’s game in Wales, both internationally and domestically. Cardiff City, along with other clubs, receiving a Football Association Academy Licence, is another positive step in continuing that growth."
