CHELTENHAM TOWN 6-3 CARDIFF CITY
The Bluebirds began preparations for the 2025/26 season with a valuable away clash against Cheltenham Town on 29th June.
Our opponents finished eighth in The FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division last season, the third tier of the English pyramid.
Iain Darbyshire’s side, after two weeks of pre-season training, got their first taste of match action in a 6-3 defeat, in which Fiona Barry netted twice, along with a goal for Mackenzie Olden.
A theme of pre-season throughout the last three years of competing in the UEFA Women’s Champions League has been preparing for Europe with stern tests against sides in the English pyramid, with our clash against Cheltenham Town proving highly productive ahead of taking on Athlone Town in July.
