Anna Houghton has become Cardiff City Women’s fifth signing of the summer.
The versatile full-back has spent time on trial with the Bluebirds in pre-season impressed in our 4-1 victory over Bridgwater United last weekend.
Despite only being 22 years of age, Anna has already amassed huge experience during her career to date, representing Penrhyn Bay Girls, Cyncoed Ladies, Barry Town United and most recently, Cardiff Met.
Anna’s signing follows the arrivals of fellow acquisitions Ella Hilliard, Gillian Keenan, TJ Gauvain and Kate Oakley.
Speaking to Cardiff City TV upon signing, Anna said: “I’m really excited to be here. I think it’ll help to have that experience of playing in the Adran Leagues behind me. I’ve played against Cardiff City numerous times and I’m looking forward to representing the Club.
“I’ve watched the Club play at this stadium a few times and I’ve always wanted to take that step up. I’m here now and I’m so excited about it.
“I knew about everyone at Cardiff City. Coaching staff-wise, Noah [Bushby] is a great person so when he told me that he was going to give me a contract, I was really delighted with it.”
Commenting on his latest recruit, head coach Noah Bushby said: “Looking at our recruitment so far this summer, we have been very pleased with what we’ve done so far. Anna is another great addition to our squad. She has a strong understanding of the Adran Premier and what it takes to be competitive.
“She is such a dynamic and energetic player that will fit in well with how we want to play. Having made a great start with us, the aim is for her to build on that now and continue her development in a Cardiff City shirt.”
