We are delighted to welcome winger Gillian Keenan as our second signing of the summer.
The exciting attacker has spent her career in her native Republic of Ireland, first representing Kilkenny United and Peaumont United.
After a spell at Treaty United, she joined Athlone Town in January 2022 and went on to be part of the side that won the club’s first league title in 2024.
Following her time with the Town, Keenan rejoined Treaty United for a second spell and becomes a Bluebird this summer.
Gillian’s signing follows the return of centre-back Ella Hilliard to the Club, marking Noah Bushby’s second signing as our head coach.
Speaking to Cardiff City TV, Gillian said: “I’m very happy to be here, it’s a lovely city. I’ve spent the past week trying to figure my way around the place. I’ve enjoyed myself being here so far. I did a fitness session last week with a few of the girls and got to know them too. I’m happy that I’m here and looking forward to getting going.
“It’s good to get back in pre-season. These few weeks before we get into the campaign, I’m looking forward to playing some games and having new experiences.”
Commenting on the winger’s move to City, Bushby added: “Gillian is an exciting addition to our squad and we’re delighted to have her with us.
“Her experience of operating at a high level will be a great asset and I’m looking forward to seeing what she can achieve in a City shirt.
“Over the coming weeks, Gillian will integrate into our squad and we’ll look to gel and improve as a team ready for that first game of the season.”
