Cian Ashford spoke to Cardiff City TV following the Bluebirds’ late win over Doncaster Rovers.
“It was a tough game,” Cian began. “When it was 3-3 you could sense in the stadium that they wanted that winner. To get it was such a good feeling.
“The manager puts it into our minds that, no matter if we go a goal down or two up, the game remains the same. We have to keep pushing, keep scoring, and keep playing the way we want to play.
“That’s what football is all about. It’s about making memories for us players but also for the fans.
"Being top at Christmas as well means we will have a lot of happy Bluebirds this year.”
The winger scored another goal today, taking his tally to three for the season, and he praised the manager and his teammates for helping him thrive this season.
Cian continued: “As I turned, I saw the pitch open up a bit, so I put my head down, ran with it, and I’m glad it went in.
“I listen to the gaffer, listen to the advice that he gives me and try to then play my own game out there. I want to play with a happy face and some confidence, and I’m doing that.
“The connection I’ve got with the likes of Ronan [Kpakio] and Perry [Ng] is the connection that the manager wants us to have.
"Whether that’s me on the inside, or one of them overlapping, or me being wide, we know how to move off each other and know how each other play.”
Next up for the Bluebirds is a game against Chelsea in the Quarter-Finals of the Carabao Cup, and Ashford is excited at the prospect of facing Premier League opposition.
“I’m buzzing for Tuesday and I know the fans are too,” Cian said. “We have to wait and see what happens on Tuesday now, but we will give it everything.
“I’m definitely excited for the games over Christmas, but we still have to take things game by game and hopefully we can continue this good run.”
