Erol Bulut speaks to the press

Erol pre-Watford | We have a positive atmosphere

Interviews
Erol Bulut spoke to the press ahead of our Sky Bet Championship clash against Watford on Saturday.

The City boss began with an injury update before this weekend's fixture.

"Aaron Ramsey will be with us against Watford. He trained well and hasn't had any problems up until now. It took a long time, we were expecting him back earlier, but with injuries, you never know. He's healthy and he will be with the team on Saturday.

"Of course, for an injured player, to train alone and make runnings, do fitness work, you have to train harder to come back and he did. You can see in his face how happy he is to be back with the team on the field.

"When we had Ramsey and Callum O'Dowda, our game was a bit different in the offensive shape. After that, when two main attacking players are out of the team, it is difficult to replace them. Right now, Ramsey is back and we have made some new signings, I hope we will be back in the positive shape that we were in before.

"O'Dowda is also doing work with the ball, but I think he will be out until the end of February."

The Bluebirds currently sit 14th in the Championship table, seven points off the Play-Off places.

Erol continued: "When I came to Cardiff City to sign the contract and when we spoke before about our targets, in the last years everybody knows better than me how it went here. My targets are always high, I will try with the team to make the maximum. For now, we are working towards that.

"At the end of December, we were around the top ten and on this, we have to build to bring Cardiff City in a better position. We are trying our best."

Saturday's opponents, Watford, are ninth in the division following a goalless draw against Sheffield Wednesday in midweek.

In the reverse fixture, City were held to a 1-1 draw, after Mark McGuinness' opener was cancelled out by Vakoun Bayo.

"I watched them yesterday against Sheffield Wednesday," Erol added. "They played the same style that they played before, a 4-3-3 system. Of course, it will not be an easy game because they play at home, but we will try to not make it easy for them. With the new players, with a new positive atmosphere in the squad and in the team now, we will try our best to get points in Watford.

"If we see the first game, we were leading in the game, but at the end, with individual mistakes, the game changed very quickly. That's how I remember it. We finished 1-1. We could have lost that game, because they had one or two big chances from individual mistakes because of us.

"Now, we have to be more careful with individual mistakes. We allowed, also in other games, too much to the opponent with individual mistakes. Today, we worked on it, all the week we work on it and tomorrow, it will be the last training, so we show the videos and everyone has to be more concentrated for that game."
