Cardiff City defender Joel Bagan spoke to Cardiff City TV following the Bluebirds’ 1-0 win over Exeter City.
“You could see it was a bit frustrating at times in the first half at times,” Joel began. “We had to try and work the ball a bit more and try and create the chances. We knew in the second half the game would open up a bit.
“We end up getting the goal and we had a lot more control in the second period. It could have been a bit easier if we got that second goal, but at the end of the day, it’s another win.”
The Grecians made life difficult for City with their style of play, but Alex Robertson’s winner at the start of the second half sealed all three points.
“Perry and I both said at half time it was frustrating playing against them because we wanted to get forward up the pitch,” Joel continued. “Exeter made it hard for us, but we’ve got to get used to that as a team. When you’re top of the league, teams will want to come here and try and frustrate us.
“It’s a really important win for us. Six league wins at home in a row now, and as a team, we know we’re coming into that crucial part of the season. We knew as a team how important it was to bounce back from that game against Lincoln and get the three points.”
The busy festive period continues with a game against Stevenage on Monday night, and after a rest on Christmas Day, Bagan and the rest of the team are ready for the next challenge.
“We had our break yesterday and it was nice to be able to spend time with our families,” Joel ended. “Today we had to get straight back to business and now it’s important for us to prepare for another tough game against Stevenage on Monday.”
🗣️ "It really helps that the fans are behind us. We really hear it, so thank you and Merry Christmas!" 🎁
