Four young Bluebirds sign professional terms

Young Bluebirds sign professional contracts
Four young Bluebirds have put pen-to-paper on professional contracts with Cardiff City.

Defenders Jac Thomas and Alyas Debono, as well as attackers Jake Davies and Daniel Ola, have all signed professional terms with the Bluebirds.

Jac Thomas

Rhondda-born Thomas joined the Academy at the age of seven during the pre-Academy age groups and captained our U18s during the 2024/25 campaign.

After signing his pro deal, Jac said: "It's a proud moment for me and my family. It's a dream come true and I can't wait for the journey to continue.

"I hope to have an injury-free season and play football regularly. The other lads signing pro deals, we've played together since we were kids and have come through together, so it's really special."

Alyas Debono

Fellow defender Debono has been a Bluebird since the age of 11 and gained experience at both U21 and U18 level last season.

Alyas added: "It's something that you work towards ever since joining the Academy. It's a huge moment for me and my family.

"I had a good season with the U18s and when I stepped up to the U21s, I felt like I took the opportunity well, so I'm looking to build on that this season."

Jake Davies

Attack-minded player Davies impressed for our U18s during the 2024/25 campaign, earning his first professional deal.

“It's a proud day for me," Jake began. "I've worked hard for this day all my life and I'm delighted to sign my first professional contract.

"I was proud of my performances last season. I had a few injury setbacks, but I felt like I had a good campaign that I'm looking to build on."

Dan Ola

Striker Ola is the fourth to have signed professional terms at the Club, having joined the Bluebirds at the age of eight.

"I've always loved this Club, so it's great to be able to sign here professionally. The coaches have been great with me over the years and I'm very grateful to them.

"There's been a lot of work that has gone into this day, not just on the field, but off it as well. My family have shown their support, taking me to and from training and games and that's played a huge part. It's all paid off."
