Neil Harris in training...

Harris pre-Nottingham Forest | A great opportunity

Interviews

FOREST PREVIEW | HARRIS

Neil Harris held a pre-match press conference ahead of the Bluebirds' FA Cup trip to Nottingham Forest.

The boss began by looking forward to the cup tie at the City Ground, whilst regretting that supporters can't be in attendance for this season's Third Round.

"If you take the fans out of it, you're taking away a massive chunk of the FA Cup," he began. "But it's a competition that I enjoy and we're taking seriously, as always.

"I was very fortunate to have played or managed in Quarter-Finals, a Semi-Final and a Final, so I've had a great affiliation with the competition, but it's not the same without the fans.

"It's the best cup competition in the world for two reasons: because the fans buy into it in the UK and because the underdog status gives you the opportunity to play in a cup final.

"It's a game I want to win and I'll be picking a team accordingly to win the game."

Despite a positive prognosis on Sean Morrison's recent injury, the Bluebirds will be without their skipper this weekend. However, Harris explained how City's injury list will offer an opportunity to other members of his squad.

"It makes you rally," he continued. "It means people have to step up and maybe step out of their comfort zone a little bit.

"People stand up in the dressing room to be counted and what a great opportunity: Nottingham Forest away in the FA Cup. I know there are no fans there, but it's still an FA Cup game away at the City Ground.

"It's an opportunity for players to play and players should be thriving on that."
